Our Mission

Curating hyper local information one city at a time.

Why create Ayoo?

Ayoo is derived from the word “Ayo” which means “Joy ” in the Nigerian Yoruba dialect. In the Bassa dialect in Cameroonian dialect, it is used to express Sadness, Fear, Anxiety and is simultaneously used to express joy, happiness, and excitement. Another source of inspiration was the song “Ayo Africa” by Cameroonian musician Longue Longue and it also pays homage to recently passed Musical Legend Manu Dibango. Also, “Ayoo” according to African American urban culture is the thing you say after something you are proud/happy/excited about. It is a way to express excitement, and is a mix of “TURNNNNNNUPPP” & “YO”. Basically, the more o’s you add, the more annoying/excited you are 😉

Ayoo is a word that creates a bridge across cultures, and that is who we are; a BRIDGE.

I/O SPACES designed Ayoo Africa’s to share both sides of the Made In Africa Experience. On one end, we highlight the treatment of the Africans at home and abroad, and in the same breath, also celebrate the achievements of Africans wherever we are. We do this by bringing together a community of innovators who are leaders in their respective fields.

AYOO AFRICA, is a digital media platform where we curate hyper-local news sources from different content creators through an online cultural magazine and community platform to covers #MadeInAfrica experiences from music, food, startups, artists,  film, and events from across the globe.
