#1 Distant, and close..
The Inauguration and festivities felt different, but despite it all being virtual, this time, we felt part of the celebration. Maybe it is the sigh of relief after the riot at the Capitol a mere 2 weeks ago. Maybe it was the impressive young poet, Amanda Gorman. Or maybe it was the cool and intimate Primetime Special with a mix of celebrities and ordinary people like us. It’s a long road ahead, but yesterday felt like we can do this together. It felt inclusive. It was all about us collectively. We felt like ONE.
#2 Trump-less, but 4 President-full!
Even though Trump was voluntarily missing from today’s festivities, it was great and unique to see 3 former Presidents stand in unity behind President Biden. A strong message of unity and dignity reverberated across the Nation and to the world.
#3 Who is Amanda Gorman? How impressive was the young poet Amanda Gorman? The New York Times reports that at 22, Amanda Gorman is the youngest poet to participate in an inauguration ceremony. How was she found? First Lady Jill Biden saw her recite a poem and was impressed with her.
