Rebecca Enonchong is FREE! #FreeRebecca

We are relieved and happy to report that our Editor in Chief, Rebecca Enonchong is FREE!  We posted an article yesterday about the genesis of the matter, but in a nutshell, she was illegally detained and in the custody of the Government in Douala, Cameroon for three days and nights. The Tech Guru posted on Twitter about her release.

I’m free!! All charges dropped!
We can retire the #FreeRebecca hashtag.

So immensely grateful to all of you for believing in me and supporting me.
🙏🏽🙏🏽

— Rebecca Enonchong (@africatechie) August 13, 2021

CNN reports that Enonchong is one of Africa’s most influential tech entrepreneurs and sits on the boards of many global corporations including the WHO Foundation. Her arrest sparked outrage on social media with many prominent individuals, including the French Ambassador to Cameroon, calling for her release.

We would like to thank all who signed the petition, took to the social media streets, and any other effort to demand her freedom. United we stand!

It's a good day when your friend is freed from detention. @africatechie: your strength and spirit are inspiring. I hope you were buoyed by the #FreeRebecca support from around the world.

This day will be even better once #ZambiaDecides is sorted. Appears the people have spoken✊
