1.New corona strain in the U.S
Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, a new corona variant was discovered in the United Kingdom about a week ago, as per BBC news. The British are saying it originated from South Africa. Wherever it came from, the first case is now in the U.S. Health Officials warn that it may be more infectious than the first strain.
2. The money and the votes
In an interesting plot twist, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell introduced a bill that forces a marriage between the proposed $2000 increased stimulus checks with the recent alleged voter fraud. Anyone smell a delay?
3. No Nando’s Peri-Peri
The Nando’s Peri-Peri location in Downtown Silver Spring has temporarily closed. While you cannot get your chicken and other yummy items from this location, rest easy knowing that the Wheaton location has you covered.
4. MoCo extends free Ride On Bus Trips
On a happier note, Montgomery County is extending free bus rides. MCDOT announced today that in response to the pandemic, Ride On, Ride On Extra and Flash buses will continue to transport riders for free, even after Metrobus resumes charging on January 3.
