Word on the streetz is that Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz’s views of his music on YouTube have hit one billion! Reports say that, that makes him the first artist in Sub-Saharan Africa to have such a huge number of views.

We did some digging and found out that another African artist got a billion YouTube views. Last year.

Moroccan rapper French Montana becomes the first:
• African artist to make the billion views on YouTube with a single clip "Unforgettable" Ft. Swae Lee

There is a slight difference though. French Montana is Moroccan, which is not sub-saharan Africa, and Diamond Platnumz is from Tanzania, which is. Either way, we are glad that Africa is wining and congratulations to both artists!
