- Senegal’s COVID-19 Measures
In order to contain the new COVID-19 strain, Senegal has extended its measures till March 20. CGTN Africa reports that the Senegalese authorities are enforcing mask wearing, a curfew, curbing public gatherings and other measures in Dakar and Thies. The new variant has hit some African Countries harder than the first wave.
- H5N8 bird flu
Amidst the ever-evolving COVID-19 virus, Russia has reported the first case of human infection with H5N8 bird flu. Reuters has reported that Russia has registered the first case of a strain of bird flu virus named A(H5N8) being passed to humans from birds, and has reported the matter to the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite the humans being infected from the poultry, no human to human transmission has been reported.
- Argentina’s Millionaire Tax
Argentina is going a different route to pay for the relief the Nation needs to contain the COVID-19 Pandemic. AlJazeera reports that The Argentine government is imposing a one-time tax on the 12,000 rich Citizens to pay for medical supplies and to fund businesses during the pandemic.
